Photovoltaic power station inspection in Jiuquan, Gansu: special “physical examination” on the hot roof

In the midsummer season, the rooftop distributed photovoltaic power stations of the towns and villages in Yumen City, Gansu Province, located at the eastern end of the Hexi Corridor, are shining brightly under the sun. In order to ensure the maximum effectiveness of these photovoltaic panels, the Jiuquan City Market Supervision Bureau has recently organized testing technicians to conduct a centralized and comprehensive “physical examination” for these rooftop photovoltaic power stations.

The hotter the weather and the stronger the sunlight, the higher the accuracy of detection. The scorching sun has brought tests to the inspectors, but it has brought benefits to poor villages. In recent years, Yumen City has seized opportunities such as national support for the development of clean energy and the implementation of photovoltaic poverty alleviation policies to carry out the construction of rooftop distributed photovoltaic power generation projects to further enhance the village-level hematopoietic function and strengthen the village collective economy. Up to now, Yumen City has invested a total of 15.2 million yuan to implement distributed photovoltaic projects in 25 administrative villages in 6 towns, totaling 2.02 megawatts, and generating approximately 3.03 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. However, due to the high maintenance costs and the lack of professional maintenance personnel in each township, the power generation has been decreasing year after year.Since 2019, the Jiuquan Market Supervision Bureau has become a designated assistance unit in Dushanzi Township, Yumen City. Since then, the Bureau’s Photothermal Photovoltaic Equipment Quality Inspection Center will conduct free inspections on rooftop distributed photovoltaic power stations throughout the township every year .
